Working With Us is Simple and Straightforward

At Commonwealth Estate Planning we offer total transparency.

Here is our client-approved process:

1.      Initial Appointment (FREE CONSULT): We begin by scheduling a convenient Zoom appointment with you. During this meeting, we'll guide you through a comprehensive questionnaire designed to gather all the necessary information for drafting your personalized estate plan.  The meeting takes no more than an hour.  We began using Zoom for these meetings and they are very convenient and efficient for our clients.

2.      Engagement Letter: Following the questionnaire session, we'll send you an engagement letter via email. This document outlines the scope of our services, including the drafting of your estate plan, and provides details regarding fees and timelines.  Upon reviewing the engagement letter, you can accept it by replying to the email indicating your agreement to proceed with our services per the engagement letter, and paying a retainer for the services through a link that we provide you via email, or (if you prefer) we can take arrange for your payment over the phone.   Our payments are securely handled by a 3rd-party payment processor that specializes in law firm transactions (a 3rd-party payment processor assures that your financial information is securely protected). We charge (in most cases) $2,500.00 for our estate plans and the price is the same for single people or couples.

3.      Drafting Your Estate Plan (FREE):  It usually takes us between one to two weeks to draft your estate plan, and then the plan is emailed to you for your review.  After that we provide up to three hours of our time FREE OF CHARGE to help you review your plan and make any changes or that you may wish.

4.      Closing on Your Plan (FREE):  Closings need to happen in person and we are happy to do this for you FREE OF CHARGE.  We hold our closings in office in the MetroWest area of Boston. If you live in Metrowest, we are happy to do the closing at your home. You need to simply provide two witnesses for the closing that will not be taking under your will.  If you have trouble finding two witnesses, we can usually find witnesses who will appear for you.
